LVEF Adds Four to Board of Directors

The Livermore Valley Education Foundation (LVEF) has elected four new members to its Board of Directors: Karen Hutchinson, Jamie Mason, Joe Romagna, and Charity Shehtanian.

Hutchinson joined LVEF because “I believe that a great public school experience should be provided for every student, and that education is the gateway to opportunity. I value the programs that LVEF supports, and am excited to be a part of an organization that helps the students of Livermore achieve a quality education.” Hutchinson is a Senior Manager at Cognizant Technology Solutions.

Mason’s family moved to Livermore almost 30 years ago. “Livermore has been the perfect place to raise our family. All of our children attended Livermore schools and participated in many after-school activities.  Keeping students active and engaged is paramount to a healthy community and I feel it is best served by giving my time to LVEF.” Mason works for the Livermore School District Payroll Department.

Romagna “joined the Board as my children are students at Arroyo Seco Elementary School, and I wanted to take a more active role in helping to generate additional resources to support their learning and the learning of all students in Livermore.” Romagna is Principal at John Green Elementary School in Dublin.

Shehtanian joined the Board to “help fundraise, and be part of the decision making process on how funds are disbursed to support many valuable but underfunded programs in our school district.” Shehtanian is a Loan Officer with Cal Coast Financial Corp.

The new Board members join Bill Dunlop, Sally Dunlop, Sally Esser, Dave Haberman, David Jonas, Vicki Schellenberger, and Jon Williams.

LVEF is a non-profit 501C3 organization staffed entirely by volunteers. Since its inception in 1991, LVEF has raised over $3.8 million for Livermore schools through individual and corporate donations. LVEF supports a broad spectrum of school programs, reflecting the Foundation’s mission to promote Straight A’s in Academics, Arts, and Athletics. For more information visit
